Justine Almaraz
Fine Artist · Educator · Founder of Earth Altar Studio
Justine Almaraz is a fine artist, tattooer, and educator dedicated to transforming tattoo culture into a more intentional, inclusive, and sustainable space.
With over 25 years of experience teaching art and nine years as a professional tattoo artist, Justine’s work bridges fine art, paramedical tattooing, and education. Her approach is rooted in artistic stewardship, ethical responsibility, and the belief that tattoos are powerful tools for healing, self-expression, and connection.
In addition to her artistic practice, Justine is recognized for her work in paramedical tattooing, including artistic scar camouflage and blending techniques for all skin tones. This work has allowed her to support clients in deeply personal ways, restoring confidence and a relationship with the body.
Justine partnered with Luis Almaraz and Alex Husmann to co-create a more private, intentional studio space dedicated to mentorship and teaching. Together, they expanded Earth Altar into a training and education hub serving artists locally and internationally.
Having navigated the realities of running a creative business, including the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Justine reimagined Earth Altar as a place where artists could learn not only how to tattoo but how to build sustainable, values-aligned careers.
Through Earth Altar EDU, she has supported dozens of artists in developing their craft, clarifying their direction, and stepping into professional confidence, without losing themselves in the process.
